The malaspina castle was build from 1304 by wish of Corradino Malaspina and it was a stronghold of ghibelline policy for the whole duration of his domination.
When the city passed under the protection of the Visconti Family, it became the siege of the Podestà and it was later given to the Dal Verme as a feud. Transformed into a luxurious residence, in 1956 it became a property of the state. Only the rectangular central keep remains of the original Castle. From the internal courtyard you can enjoy a beautiful view of the town and of the mountains surrounding Bobbio.
